I’m much more capable of expressing myself through my art, but on a very brief note – here are the things you need to know about me:
- My name is Alexandra Gallant, I go by “Finch” or Ali
- I live in Boston, Massachusetts but will never ever forget that my true hometown is Buffalo, New York (by way of Albany, New York).
- I went to Northeastern University to study Criminal Justice and English and somehow ended up as a web designer.
- My main styles of art are digital illustration (mostly cartoonish), watercolor with ink linework, some acrylic paintings, and pen and ink sketches.
- I am available for a variety of projects, please send me an email and we can chat if you have something in mind.
- I worked as a rock-climbing instructor in the Adirondacks for a few years.
- In addition to web design, I’ve been a camp counselor (see: rock climbing) as well as an instructor/retail-flunky at a craft studio (the idea of working at a craft studio sounds a lot more fun than it actually is in reality).
- I’ve taught classes in Creative Journaling, Jewelry-making, and Knitting 101.
- I am fluent/well-versed in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, InDesign, among the other usual suspects. I also speak terrible French after a long period of never speaking it but can still read it fluently.
- Through agency/design firm consulting I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with internationally known companies – you might be ordering a pizza from one of them right now and I guarantee you’ve got a few of their board games on your games shelf. I’ve also worked with small non-profits and currently work full-time for a large non-profit, managing a large portion of their website.
- I love making things – it doesn’t matter what or how, but to start out with raw material and turn it into something interesting or beautiful or with any luck interesting and beautiful – that’s one of the best feelings you can have in the world.
